Sessions made announcements Monday, May 7th, during speeches in Scottsdale, Arizona before the Association of State Criminal Investigative Agencies, and in Calexico, where he toured the U.S.-Mexico border.
“If you cross this border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you,” he said. “It’s that simple.”
In Arizona, he stated what would occur, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, to prosecute to the full extent of the law all individuals caught crossing the border illegally. He stated his department would take as many cases “as humanly possible” until they reached a 100 percent prosecution rate. He also confirmed long-rumored plans to go after parents who attempt to bring their children into the country illegally. Several media reports described that DHS was already separating children from their parents along some parts of the border.
Remember, he said 100 percent. That’s gonna be a tough number to reach, but at least he’s trying to commit to curbing this nonsense once and for all.
“If you are smuggling a child, then we will prosecute you and that child will be separated from you as required by law,” Sessions said. “If you don’t like that, then don’t smuggle children over our border.”
He clearly states it there. This should make those people think twice before crossing our border. The outcry by the left has already started. My headline was inspired by Bloomberg, which has already put out an article calling Sessions’ new plan “UnAmerican”.
The article titled “Jeff Sessions’ Border Plan Is Cruel and Unnecessary” reads: “Defending the border by pulling children from the arms of their parents is brutal, immoral and un-American. That will be the upshot of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ plan to immediately detain and prosecute everyone — including asylum-seekers and parents with children — caught trying to cross illegally into the U.S.”
Yes, asylum seekers as well guys. Even more reason that I already love this plan. We’ve been waiting a long time for something like this from Sessions. The article continues: “It’s true that many of those released with pending immigration cases never show up for their court dates, vanishing into the underground economy. But the right response is to make the system work faster so that those caught entering illegally can be promptly turned away—rather than detained for lengthy stays or released pending a trial date.”
This is what we’ve been saying actually. We hear stories all the time of people just simply not showing up, and then leeching off White America’s dollars. I agree this needs to work faster. Turn all of them away immediately. How many people will be willing to lose their kids doing this?
What they don’t understand over at Bloomberg is this will help with the overall problem of our systems being flooded, thus decreasing the amount of time and money used to not only let these people just get away once we get them, but to not cost us even more time and money for ICE to round them back up, and then send them through the courts and then home.
My hat’s off to you Sessions—it’s about time. Now, how about just closing our border all together?
